Polly, as she was known, was born in February 2009 and died in April 2009. Everyone loved her. She was the smiliest baby and so advanced for her age. She was already holding her head up and army style crawling. Her sister, Charlie and brother, Zach miss her so much like all of us do. She was a small baby. Not in weight but in length and that was a contributing factor to her death according to her post mortem. She has left a big hole in our lives which nothing and no-one will ever be able to fill. R.I.P my darling angel baby

I heard you crying yesterday,
And felt your heart-sent love.
So I’m sending you this message
Now, from Heaven up above.
You’re wondering if I’ll celebrate
My Birthday (way up here).
I know you’re missing me today
I feel your essence near.
God planned a special day for me,
He told me with a wink.
He’d ordered me a special cake
(It’s Angel food, I think).
Balloons will fill the streets for me,
They float up through the clouds.
And we have lots of friends up here
That make us laugh out loud.
There is a Birthday carousel,
Jewelled horses ride the wind,
With music playing, oh so sweet…
The magic never ends.
I’ve made so many friends, you see
We laugh and play and sing.
We ride our bikes and play jump rope
And sleep in Angel’s wings.
We’ll have our cake and ice cream
And open gifts - SURPRISE!

God’s Lent Child
“I’ll lend you for a little while
A child of mine” God said –
For you to love the while she lives
and mourn for when she’s dead.
It may be none or seven years
Or twenty two or three
But will you, till I call her back,
take care of her for me?
She’ll bring her charms to gladden you
and, should her stay be brief,
you’ll have her nicest memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth return
but, there are lessons taught below,
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the whole world over,
in my search for teachers true,
and from the throngs that crowd life’s lane
I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love,
nor think the labour vain,
nor hate me when I come to take
this lent child back again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
“Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done”
for all the joys thy child will bring
the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter her with tenderness,
we’ll love her while we may,
and for the happiness we’ve known
forever grateful stay.
But, should thy Angels call for her
much sooner than we planned,
we’ll brave the grief that comes
and try to understand….
